Solidental Programme

On 20th October 2009, representatives of Policlinica ALEN headed by Dª Fuensanta Lima together with Members of the Council for Social Welfare from Mijas Town Hall introduced the SOLIDENTAL ALEN programme (acronym for Dental Solidarity). Judging by the reaction of the entire Spanish media, this programme became known as a pioneering initiative in our country.

The main aim of the SOLIDENTAL ALEN programme was the awarding of a 100% grant of the costs of all primary treatments (i.e. cleaning, fillings and extractions) in dental health care for 3 families from the Mijas district including children and adults alike. The families concerned who were in difficult financial circumstances were put forward by the Welfare Services of the Town Hall. In addition, all those who are unemployed, 30 and above can benefit from a 50% grant towards the costs of treatments such as cleaning, fillings and extractions.

This action of solidarity came into force on the 1st of November 2009 and lasted until 31st January 2010 during which some 100 people were treated.  With this campaign, POLICLINICA ALEN and Mijas Town Hall aim to lend support to those residents in the Mijas municipality whose situation is precarious and adversely affected by the current economic downturn thus bringing about an improvement in the personal and family lives of our fellow citizens.
